Interview with Eugene Ware The King of Market Samurai
If you have any kind of SEO blood in your veins then you will have heard of Market Samurai, the king of Market/Keyword Research tools.
Market Samurai was conceived at Dan Raine & Ed Dale‘s Over the Edge gathering in Australia some years back and I was lucky enough to attend – It was a marketer and hacker paradise, where some of the worlds most innovative brains plotted and planned!
The main brains and CEO of the company is Eugene Ware and I managed to get a rare interview with him.
The interview has been lost and found (another story all together!) and now I’m going to share it with you because there are some great lessons to be learned.
Eugene didn’t just become the CEO of one of the worlds most renowned SEO tools overnight. He had failures just like everyone else, he is one of the most talented coders on the planet but he is also a very shrewd business man and that shrewdness comes from lots of experience in the jungle we call Internet Marketing.

Great interview guys!
Cheers Shannon – Eugene is just a genius!
What an outstanding interview… I think it’s an inspiration for all who want to be a Millionaire with this Internet Marketing Niche.
Eugene is definitely an inspiration isn’t he!
Thanks Kenny…. It was info packed!
You’re welcome Verax
Interesting interview, I really love all of the previous ones.
With Robert Somerville and Ed Dale.
And I heard something about the new software around link building will be coming up? :)
Good luck, love your stuff!
Hey Vitaly glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Kenny and Eugene..well done.
Beechworth certainly was the start of a lot of things for those lucky enough to attend.
That event made a lot of people rich! Dan Rain walking to the stage to the Sex Pistols was my highlight!
Thanks for telling us to keep our day jobs while first starting out. I know I’m on the right track there at least. You almost have to treat this like a hobby at first. It’s like throwing some cash into collectibles or something. You don’t expect to get it back. You’re just having fun learning about it.
I’ve always enjoyed listening to a back-story on how success came about…and this relaxed accounting of Market Samurai was no exception!
…on a separate note:
I like the celestial trail of light on your logo (on the G)…reminds me of your wild haircut…ha!
Thanks, lots!
Mitch
Hey Mitch great to hear isn’t it! Haha the trail of light was Nigel Handley‘s work of art!
Would prefer a transcript of the interview.
AJ going to organise for all the interviews on my blog will let you know when done
I have nothing but the highest respect for Eugene. A very talented coder and highly ethical person. He understands the demands and issues surrounding high level software development better than anyone I know.
Robert Somerville (GuruBob)
Indeed Robert a little like your good self – the ethical bit anyway :)
Oh wow!
I enjoyed this interview so much Kenny.
I am a supporter od Market Samuria but I never realized who was behind it.
The honesty and commitment that Eugene puts into this interview is also realized within the MS product. Simply brilliant!
Thank you for sharing this one.
Yes he is one of life’s gems and was an amazing help in getting Domainface off the ground
Brilliant interview and very inspiring. You realise that anything is possible with a great idea and total belief. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it Richard
Hey Kenny, when did this interview take place?
think it was December 2010 – thought it was gone when we had our office burgled but someone had backed it up :)
Great interview! The relaxed setting and tone lends to the value of the information and experience being shared.
Just wanted to say that I have seen Eugene Ware presenting and he was awesome. He didn’t rate his presenting ability but I did. He had good information, knew what he wanted to say and put it across clearly and concisely.
As for watching him use Market Samurai, wow! It was breathtaking. I always think it is fascinating watching a master at work.
Such a nice, unassuming guy too. And he gave me a Noble Samurai polo shirt.
Legend.
I enjoyed the interview and like you I’m a fan of Eugene and Market Samurai… Great time saving product!
