  1. Hey Kenny !

The last interview and video really inspired me. I’ve just made my first purchase on Flippa.

The question I’d like to ask is the following :

How do we know when it is not anymore worth investing time (and money) on a website ? What tells you when it’s time to cut losses ?

Thank you for the good content you’ve shared so far ! :)

    • Hi Jeoff,

This really comes down to your plan – we never buy a website without having a plan to quickly reach break even within 3-6 months.

If it’s an existing site already in your portfolio it’s best you rank all your websites based on profit potential then work on the ones that will get you the quickest returns.

There’s no magic answer here – just create a plan and stick with it. Typically I don’t deviate from my plan for longer than 3-6 months – any longer than that and, typically speaking, it’s time to cut your losses.

  2. I have a domain http://www.renaultfluence.net and I would like to know if its worth anything!

    • Unfortunately there’s no set formula for calculating a websites value. A website really is worth what someone is willing to pay.

With regards to your website, ask yourself “who would find my website useful” and “how useful would it be to them”.

How much traffic does it have? How much money has it made?

There’s a few things we would need to know before we could even put together a strategy to sell it.

  3. Nice one guys… just keep submitting all your questions here and I’ll answer them all on the webinar.

I’m just working on a very cool mindmap to help you guys understand my processes.

    Your Website Flipper,
    Dave

  4. Thanks Dave and Kenny for some great inspiration.
I believe that selling high ranking, high traffic sites to offline businesses is a great business model, but there is one question I have about that….. In your experience do you find that the business wants to change the whole look of the site to match their existing site/s?

And obviously they would need to change some content to make it relevant to them. Do you find that changing the content a lot, and perhaps the theme, etc, results in a drop in rankings?
Would love to know more about how you manage the details of this aspect, Mel

    • When selling a website to an offline business, another great way to do it is to sell the leads to them.

In this way you don’t have to change the look and feel of the site and you’ll continue to profit from the site as long as it continues to generate leads.

In short, you could do some minor branding for them for a monthly fee.

  5. Great audio guys. I’m curious to get opinions on the new .co domains and as to whether they have good seo value and resale value?

    • Hi Warren,

There really isn’t a lot of info available yet on .co domains, but a number of people, including Dan Raine, have been doing a ton of testing and we will start to see some stats filtering through soon.

    • Just worth adding to Danny’s comment, I have heard a few have sold for around the four figure mark, but nothing all that noteworthy yet.

I am building on a few of them myself, and will no doubt report the results to the coaching group that myself, Dave and Danny run.

      • Would you be interested in any of these:

        Switchboards.co
        TrailerHomes.co
        Shelbyville.co (GEO)
        Bisbee.co (GEO)

        Sonograms.co
        Cornelia.co (GEO)

        Orgasm.bz
        Drills.bz
        FantasyFootball.bz
        and a few others…

    • Personally I stick with .com . That said, there’s still loads of cash to be made with .co . I have seen them SEOed and also seen some of the premium ones sell for top dollar.

That said, it’s not part of my plan so I don’t really look at them. There’s millions of ways to make money online the key is to find one area that makes sense to you and then focus on that one area.

  6. I´m in to something I call double domain names.
If you register a domain name like this: com-jeans.com you can create double domains (subdomains) like this: buy.com-jeans.com or diesel.com-jeans.com and so on.
the problem is when I will sell a website with a double domain name.
Do you how to use double domain names and selling the websites?

    • Kenneth

this is something that I’ve never got into. I think resale would be a major problem for you

      Kenny

    • Hi Kenneth,

Typically speaking I just sell the core domain and then just make reference to any sub domains in the listing. That said, you will need to demonstrate the value to the potential buyer.

      Dave

  7. I did the Challenge three times and am feeling more confident in my ability to get involved in this market but is there a basic checklist that we could follow on how to make sure a site we list to sell is optimized for a buyer? And when buying a site what are some red flags we should look for so as not to be duped into making a poor investment. I know there is much involved but just wanted a few important basic tips. I’ve listened to all of Ed’s stuff and much of David’s. My first attempt on Flippa – I listed a lot of ten iPad domains but withdrew my auction before the end out of pure fear! Afraid to commit! But now I think I’m ready! Thanks guys for all you advice!

    • Hi Gail,

I’m confident a your questions will be answered in the webinar.

    • Hi Gail,

The key is to just get started… if your confidence is low, just lower the price of websites you’re dealing with. As your confidence increases you can so too increase the value of the sites.

As for your other questions did you get to watch the webinar? we covered a whole bunch of strategies here? If not, you might want to check out http://www.myBBSformula.com

      Dave

  8. You know what I am mostly concerned with?

how to best keep the PR of a domain I just bought (in this case it is a PR2)

Any advice on that would be great!

    Jesse

    • Where possible keep the same registra and hosting account. Also, look to get some content up on the site as quickly as possible – even better try and re-create the same directory structure of the site.

There’s no perfect answer here, that said, you will find even if it drops at first, and the links remain, over time you will see your PR rebound.

      Hope that helps.
      Dave

  9. Hi!

I’ve heard about website flipping a lot recently. However, I’m still unsure about the risks involved.

What are the risks of an absolute beginner (myself) failing on turning a profit, or even selling, his website flip? Also, how would you advise I go about finding a website to fit, based on a low budget?

    Cheers,
    Stefan

  10. Listened to the webinar with you and Dave and enjoyed it immensely (and learned a few things in the process). I notice you have a had a few comments on the subject of maintaining the PR of an aged domain that has been bought.

We have had a number of questions on that front as well and I think it would be a good subject for future content or webinars.

  11. Hi Kenny and David

I missed the original but got the replay thanks. Great content as usual.

David as mentioned in a previous comment on the first webinar you did with Kenny I have a site that I would like to sell but it has a few complications so I really need some expert advice. Do you or your team have services available for people like myself who need help?(I don’t want to buy a course but want to pay someone for their services to sell my site)
    Regards
    Anne

  12. Hello

I just got an email from someone at Latonas.com asking if I wanted to sell my domain/site.

Anybody ever heard of them? Kenny?
